Stop saying, I'm Sorry

There is a time and a place for everything, including when and if you really need to say,"I'm sorry." If you are guilty of saying, "I'm sorry," when someone else bumps into you or because you have a different opinion about a topic than someone else, then this video is for you.

An expression of true remorse is not a sign of weakness. Apologizing for who you are or what you feel is undermining your value. The phrase, "I'm sorry," in these circumstances are self destructive and after watching this video I think you will understand why.

Thank you for watching. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback. If you have broken the misuse of saying, "I'm sorry," please share with the rest of us how you have done it.

My First Mammogram

You might think I'm a little weird, but I was kind of looking forward to taking my first mammogram. I think it has something to do with me getting an adrenaline rush from having first experiences. It didn't occur to me before I walked into that tiny room with that massive metal machine that this test could literally change the course of my entire live.

The technician was quite thorough in her explanation of what was about to go down, but as thorough as she was the entire process was still shocking to me.  After the shock wore off, I was happy that my first mammogram was behind me. Now all I had to do was wait to get the results, which were mailed to me with an all clear, but what an awful way to learn about life altering news.

Despite the discomfort of the exam and the ancient delivery system of receiving my results, I am happy to get my yearly mammogram. For now this is how to check the health of your breast tissue, aside from doing your own personal breast exams right after your monthly cycle, both of which can add in early detection of breast cancer.

Awareness of your breast health is sexy and beautiful. Watch the video and find out how you could avoid some of the pain that might come along with getting your mammograms.

Please feel free to share any tips or tricks you might have to make taking your mammogram easier below.

Get the Perfect Eyeliner without Perfect Eyesight

Turning 40 has a whole bunch of advantages. Personally, I feel more grounded and less concerned about the commentary of others. What does concern me about the aging process are the changes my body is making without my permission.

My eyes have decided they are tired of perfect vision, which makes putting on eye makeup increasingly difficult. At some point I will get reading glasses, but until then beauty must prevail. With just a few adjustments of the mirror getting a straight line over your eyelashes with or without perfect vision is possible.

This is a little trick I learned years ago in makeup school, never realized how handy it would be. Try it out and let me know how it works for you. And if you have another secret for putting on makeup, please take a moment to share with the rest of us.

Never too Late For a New Start

This was by far the most challenging holiday season I've experienced my entire life. I had two friends die unexpectedly, 3 phones dismantled within the span of 4 weeks and a soar throat for a month and a half which turned into a dreadful cold. All of my intentions for starting the new year off in good health, great cheer and a one-two punch for getting things done all took a back seat to healing my mind, body and spirit.

When healing takes priority to getting things done, I know the Universe is trying to speak to me. Either I'm completely off course or it's time to take a slightly different direction.  Too often I have burrowed through my emotions and opted for antibiotics, only to find myself feeling completely rundown just days or weeks later. This time I made a promise to myself to be deliberate in processing my emotions and caring for the health of my body. And now that I've come out on the other side, I can honestly say it was time well spent.

All the hype around starting new in the New Year, is just that, hype. If your year has started off to a slow start, don't worry you still have the start of a new month and every day you wake up you are given a new day to begin again. Be gentle with yourself! Setting goals and planning out your actions can be done on a regular basis, not just January 1st.  Resolve this year to take better care of yourself, learn what works about your beautiful design and you will likely exceed those goals, not just achieve them.

Come join me at the next Irresistibly YOU! 1-Day workshop on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA!!! It is a complete game changer and will skyrocket your confidence to help you achieve all your goals!

CES 2016: The Future of Beauty

Last week I attended CES in Las Vegas. If you are asking yourself, "What is CES?" you are not alone. I actually had no idea it existed until a friend asked if I would attend with them 3 weeks ago. In short, CES is the Consumer Electronics Show where all of the latest and greatest in technology is showcased.

If you want to see where the future of technology is taking us, acquire some creative ideas for your business and/or interested in getting an edge up on your industry, this is the place to be.  As a side, if you are single, like me, and you want to catch a well-dressed international nerdy guy, the ratio of men to women were 200:1. With over 150,000 people in attendance our odds are pretty good!

Being at CES was like taking a walk into the future of healthcare, fitness, housewares, transportation, media and of course my favorite beauty. The most forward thinking product coming to market which I believe everyone is talking about is the driver-less vehicle. There were lots of keynotes and panel discussions around the growing popularity of livestreaming video and the convergence of traditional media and the internet. In other words, how can companies better read your mind while you are consuming information or entertainment, so that you will buy more of their stuff?

Although, I was a bit disappointed by the extremely small number of beauty exhibitors, I was inspired to see more companies focused on the health behind the aesthetics of a persons beauty. Here are a couple I thought were interesting:

La Clinique Digitale a sense and treat technology. It will tell you have you need to adjust your skincare routine based on the moisture in your skin.

Stop Being Confused About What to Wear

Are you often late to events or work because you just can’t seem to figure out what to wear? The goal usually is to pick something right out of your closet that fits the occasion while at the same time feels comfortable and you look well styled. Oh, and let's not forget confident. Believe it or not this is something that can be easily achieved with just a little planning.

Planning out my wardrobe the night before is something my mom taught me to do from the time I started kindergarten. She would have me lay out each piece of clothing, iron those items that needed to be ironed and hang them nicely. Each morning I would just jump into my clothing and get my day started quickly.

It took me several years and a quick visit back to my hometown of Chicago to be reminded to get back to basics. I completely created a great system for planning out a complete working wardrobe that not only fits my individual style, but also has me get dressed for any occasion at the drop of a dime. Imagine having a plan for your wardrobe instead of haphazardly throwing your pieces of clothing together each morning. Now imagine how much time you would save.

Coming up on Saturday, December 12, 2015, I will be holding an Irresistibly Me 1-Day Workshop where you can learn exactly how to develop a plan for your wardrobe that will always have you feeling inspired about what’s in your closet.  You will also have an opportunity to learn from some of the best beauty professionals in Hollywood what really works about your unique design.  Spaces are limited, so be sure to contact me directly for more information about how to register.

5 Techniques Every Woman Should Know to Build Self-Confidence

Remember when you first learned how to drive, in the beginning it was necessary to keep checking all the gauges, hands in the ten and two position, every line on the road was carefully observed and it was an activity that took focused effort and energy?

After a few years your confidence grew and you started driving with one hand, gauging whether or not you could turn a block before you reached the corner and some days you don’t even remember how you got from point A to point B. The more you practice the more your confidence grew. Expanding your confidence in yourself is no different, except no one every stays the same. So it is necessary to continue to be in a constant state of learning when it comes to growing your confidence.

5.      Find what you LOVE about you and Forgive the rest! Every month or quarter make a list of 10 or 20 things that make you smile about yourself and that you truly love. Is it your nose, your eyes, your smile, the way your hips curve, your ability to stay grounded in the midst of ciaos?. Since we are in an age where we are constantly checking our phones use it to remind yourself of how fabulous you are. Randomly set reminders on your phone to chime throughout your day or week.  One of my favorite reminders is set every Tuesday just after my weekly meeting with my advisers, “I am wicked creative and surround myself with the best.” This way no matter how much I may have heard I’ve done something wrong or I need to take a different direction, when I read that reminder I smile every time.

4.     Appreciate yourself regularly. Throughout your day give yourself some love by telling yourself you appreciate what you love about you. When you hear your little voice in your head starts going off on you or telling you all the things that aren’t right about you, breathe deep. Take about 3 – 4 slow deep breathes to claim yourself and bring your attention to what you love most about yourself. When we give our attention to what we appreciate, those things we don’t will simply fall away.

3.       Double dog dare yourself.  Do something that is beyond your comfort level every week. Some people suggest every day, but I’ve found that every day doesn’t feel realistic. I’ve created a bucket list where I’ve listed all the things that I want to do before I hit the dirt and once a week I made sure that I’ve done something to get me closer to either having that experience or making it a reality. Sometimes it requires that I make calls that scare me half to death or going on a hike that is beyond what I know I can do.

2.      Only compare objects to each other not yourself.  Never look outside of yourself to determine whether or not you are good enough or worthy of where you are or where you want to be. There will always be someone out there that will be farther along than we are, taller, skinnier or even smarter, what you don’t know is all the things that they may have had to endure to create their persona and it’s likely that you wouldn’t want to be in their shoes if you really knew. The goal is self mastery and comparing yourself to others will not offer you any valuable insight on what you need to strengthen in yourself.

1.       Create a daily practice for yourself that will build your physical body. When you can feel your body getting stronger whether it is in flexibility, muscle or agility you gain confidence in your body. Small progress over time builds body confidence. You don’t need to go out and run a marathon, but if you were to start walking everyday for five minutes a day and then increase that to 10 without breaking a sweat you begin to trust your body and its ability to do more.

Do The Damn Thing 2015

Do (1).jpg

Do The Damn Thing 2015! This conference was Sensational!

Real women working through and overcoming challenges they face everyday in making their dreams a reality. These women brought their heart and soul to every session. There were tears shared, light bulbs moments, real practical advice given and loads of inspiration shared.

Here are a couple of the heights that I took away:

Here is the nitty gritty, there are many obstacles to overcome while building your dreams, the biggest challenge being your internal dialogue. Once your mind is right, don't let anyone or anything tell you what you want is impossible. The very word impossible says, "I'M POSSIBLE."

Get out there and "Do The Damn Thing!"

Being Seen Has Nothing to Do With You

Personally, I feel more comfortable, confident and alive when I’m speaking in front of a live audience than I do speaking in front of a video recorder or even talking on the phone.  But that’s neither here nor there.

Becoming the face of your brand, telling people about your product or service can be truly nerve wrecking. For some of us we have to do a little song and dance, phone a friend or pray to the god's before actually picking up the phone to dial our prospective clients. And God forbid you actually get through your entire pitch and they say, NO. It feels like your entire world is about to crumble all around you.

I had this same exact feeling just the other day as I was calling to tell people about my new program Vivacious Visibility. You’ll have to join my email list or FB page to find out more about it.

After an entire day of making calls, I was both wired and emotionally drained. Until it hit me like a ton of bricks, this isn’t about me. It’s never been about me, but I chose to make it about me and thus every response felt like a personal stab in the heart.

If you have a product, service, message or just want to get the recognition you rightfully deserve for what you do keep in mind, “It’s not about you! It’s about the people you are meant to serve.

Having visibility is owning that you are only the vessel chosen to help others with your amazing gifts. It’s about the people who actually need you. The next time you pick up the phone to make calls to prospects, post a picture of your ideal client where you can see it. Let their face be a reminder to you that, "This is not about you."

Watch how your energy shifts. See how differently they respond. Feel the difference you make in the lives of those who need you.
